Jansen, the outgoing Chairman of the KSA, delivered a speech addressing key issues in the online gambling market during his time with the organization. He emphasized the need for responsibility in the industry, especially with the Netherlands now having 29 licensed online gambling operators.

The KSA recently released a modified Responsible Gaming Policy Rule, which Jansen highlighted as a significant achievement within the boundaries of current legislation. He also announced the establishment of a temporary Online Duty of Care department to supervise operators’ compliance with the new policy rule, set to be operational in September.

With a ban on untargeted advertising in place since July 2023, Jansen acknowledged the controversy it has caused but assured that measures will be taken to allow individuals to exclude themselves from gambling advertising. As major sporting events approach this summer, Jansen advised providers to exercise moderation in their advertising efforts to maintain a positive image for the gambling market.

Looking ahead, the KSA plans to launch an awareness campaign to protect consumers, especially young adults, from gambling-related temptations during the summer. Jansen also stressed the importance of monitoring the channelisation rate and combatting illegal offerings in the Dutch market.

In closing, Jansen emphasized the priority of player care and urged conference attendees to implement safeguards against problem gambling. As the industry continues to evolve, it is essential to prioritize responsible gambling practices to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all players.
